When we opened Village Car Wash & Laundromat in Farmington, NH, we made a commitment from day one: a portion of what we earn every month goes back to the community. Not someday. Not when we get big enough. Every month, from the start.
A customer recently mentioned in a review that they were impressed we asked for their charity recommendation personally during a visit. That interaction meant a lot to us โ and it's exactly how we want to run this business. So we wanted to share more about how this actually works and how you can be part of it.
Why We Do This
Farmington is a small community, and small communities run on neighbors looking out for each other. We're not a chain. We're not a franchise. We're local owners who live and work in this area, and the people who come through our doors are our neighbors โ literally.
Businesses take from communities โ foot traffic, spending, attention. We believe they have an obligation to give something back that's tangible and real, not just good marketing. Monthly charitable giving is our way of making that concrete.
How We Choose Each Month
We look for causes that meet a few criteria:
- Local first. We prioritize organizations serving Farmington, Strafford County, and surrounding NH communities. People driving past our sign should be able to feel the benefit of what we do.
- Direct impact. We prefer organizations where donations go directly to people or animals in need โ not primarily to administrative overhead.
- Variety over time. We rotate focus so that over a year we've touched food security, animal welfare, youth programs, veterans' services, and more.
- Customer recommendations. This one matters a lot to us. If a customer tells us about a cause close to their heart, we take it seriously and consider it for an upcoming month.
What "A Portion" Actually Means
We're not going to publish an exact percentage โ partly because it varies month to month based on our revenue, and partly because we'd rather the giving speak for itself than become a marketing number. What we can tell you is that this is a real, consistent commitment โ not a symbolic gesture.
From our customers: Jalen, one of our members, mentioned in his Google review that we asked him personally about a charity recommendation during his visit. That conversation is real โ we have it regularly. If you haven't been asked yet, bring it up yourself next time. We'll listen.
When You Wash Here, You're Part of This
Every car wash membership, every loyalty card load, every self-serve bay visit contributes to what we're able to give back. You're not just getting your car washed or your laundry done โ you're supporting a business that's actively reinvesting in Farmington and the surrounding communities of Strafford County, NH.
We think that's worth knowing. And we think it's worth doing.
Thank you for being here.
